Known for crafting vehicles that strongly emphasize world-class luxury and refinement, the three pointed star automobile brand, Mercedes-Benz has now rolled-out an exclusive 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT that boasts enhanced driving dynamics and even better on-track performance. Described to be a more hardcore version of the outgoing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, this newer masculine and decidedly athletic version comes with an addition of ‘GT’ to its name, along with power boost, suspension systems, tweaked transmission and an optional AMG designo STYLE interior package. This year, the German automaker has so far introduced us three of its newer exclusive models including the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL500, the lighter and faster Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG and the SL 65 AMG 45th anniversary edition.
Replacing all of the previous SLS AMG versions, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT still uses the same 6.2 liter fire-breathing V8 engine but with a power boost to the tune of 20 hp, making a total of 583 hp at 6800 rpm, in comparison to 563 hp of the outgoing version. And, these minor power changes yield a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time in just 3.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 197 mph. The new SLS still rides on 20-inch rollers on the rear and 19-inch alloy wheels up front.
Demonstrating the kind of potential that lies in AMG’s super-sport cars, the SLS AMG GT excites out on the racing track by providing passionate driving experience. Distinguished by darkened headlamp and tail light lenses a unique wheel-color and red-painted brake calipers. Further, the star recess in the radiator grille and wing-shaped cross fins have been given an ultra-exclusive high-gloss black finish, as do the hood fins, front fenders and exterior mirrors. And, to clearly identify this newer model, the AMG logo sporting on the right side of the trunk lid also features the additional letters ‘GT’.
The new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT also sports newly developed AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension which considerably enhances the vehicle's sportiness. And, solely depending on the driving conditions, vehicle load and speed, the new AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension automatically adjusts the damping characteristics at lightning speed and automatically reduces the roll angle of the body. Also, the two modes can be selected via a button on the AMG DRIVE UNIT.
Further, the automaker has provided AMG designo STYLE interior package for all SLS AMG GT. It’s a new and highly exclusive option which is available in three varied combination of colors in both single and two-tone glossy finishes.
It comprises a distinctive upholstery design that features full designo leather with a contrast stitching and a diamond quilt design on door panel inserts and seats.
For MY201 in the United States, Mercedes-Benz will be exclusively available as a Roadster and Coupe and will go on sale in mid of November 2012.
