Airstream teams up with Chevy for 2011 Avenue travel trailer
Airstream, maker of the iconic Silver Bullet travel trailer, lately unveiled its 2011 Interstate built on a Mercedes Benz chassis and this time, the firm has joined forces with Chevrolet to deliver an ideal touring coach. The new 2011 Airstream Avenue Class B motorhome is a true home away from home on wheels. Built on the powerful Chevrolet 3500 Series Express chassis with a L96 V8 engine and 6L90 transmission, the Avenue offers a towing capacity of about 8,000 pounds. It’s the only motorhome from Airstream to come with side impact air bags. The 2011 Avenue seats seven, sleeps two and comes with Ultraleather seating and stainless steel appliances. Swiveling front captain chairs are designed in a way so that the meals can be enjoyed at a central table for four. The table can also be removed for extra comfort and convenience.
The on-board amenities include a kitchen, bathroom and a lounge area that doubles as a bed for two. The touring coach takes care of your entertainment with a 19-inch flat panel HD LCD/DVD that’s pre-wired to accept a satellite dish. The standard 13,500 BTU air conditioner and 16,000 BTU furnace make for easy in-cabin temperature regulation.
The 2011 Avenue is available in two interior decors (Onyx and Light Camel) and two exterior colors (Sheer Silver and Summit White). You can also opt for a two-tone paint option. The 2011 Airstream Avenue base model carries a price tag of $95,544.
