An internationally prominent businessman and investor, Saudi Prince Al-Walid bin Talal is perhaps the largest single foreign investor in the United States economy. With a net financial worth of approximately $20 billion, he is also one of the world’s wealthiest men. After graduating from Menlo College in 1979 he returned to Saudi Arabia with hopes of benefiting from the phenomenal oil boom then underway. Instead, he made considerable profit in the fields of real estate and construction, after which he set his sights on the banking sector.

 

In 1991, Prince Al-Walid announced his $590 million investment to bailout Citicorp which many thought would turn out to be a ruinous decision earned him the title of the ‘Arabian Warren Buffet'. The company’s tremendous success in the ensuing years made it the cornerstone of Prince Al-Walid’s fortune. Known to live an indulgent life, the Prince doesn’t hesitate to treat himself like a king. If his $130 million palace in Riyadh doesn’t astonish you, his $500 million personalized Airbus A380 also called the ‘Flying Palace’ will definitely send you into a frenzy. The Prince’s appetite for cars seems unparalleled and his collection of more than 300 cars of the best breed is simply jaw dropping. Prince Talaal once again justified his smart businessperson stature as he recently invested $300 million in the social networking site Twitter. Saudi prince and serial investor Al-Walid owns a 282-foot yacht called Kingdom 5KR. The yacht which appeared in the movie Never Say Never Again as the Flying Saucer was bought by the Prince from Donald Trump after his second bankruptcy in 1991 for just $40 million. The yacht was built in 1980 by the yacht builder Benetti at a cost $100 million. Originally named as Nabila, the yacht was one of the largest in world at the time of its commencement. Later, when Donald Trump bought it for $29 million from the Sultan of Brunei, he renamed it Trump Princess after retrofitting it. The origins of it’s latest name can be traced back to the Prince’s investment company, Kingdom Holdings, his lucky number 5 and the initials of his children (K and R).

 

Features: The 5-deck yacht has all the latest luxuries like a disco, cinema, a helipad and a pool with water jet on top. The exterior architecture has been designed by Jon Bannenberg and initial interiors were done by Luigi Sturchio.

 

Accommodations: It has 11 opulent guest suits and many other luxurious rooms, which can accommodate up to 22 passengers in addition to 31 qualified crew.

 

Specs: It has two main engines which pump a total power output of 6000 HP. The yacht reaches a top speed of 20 knots, and cruising speed of 17 knots. It has a range of 8500 miles which it can cruise at a speed of 17 knots.
