Crystal and porcelain animals by Jaime Hayon

Spanish designer Jaime Hayon’s playful creativity and ability to marry different surfaces to create objects of brilliance, was shown in our previous coverage of the Champagne Bar with a built-in lamp. This time, in association with Baccarat, Jaime Hayon brings in a set of crystal caskets that serve to take us all back in time to our childhood days.

These caskets have been created in 5 models with each resembling an animal from the wild, including a duck, monkey and a bear. The monkey is available in a white porcelain base with a gold lining inside, where as the casing is done with clear glass. The duck on the other hand, comes with a carved shamrocked body, especially the wings of the crystal bird. The other optional version is the gold plated chrome model, with the mint green color tone of the casing, which remains common for both. The bear cub also has multiple options which include the clear or amber colored glass casing, with a flat top and the rib edged on porcelain. Other options for customization include the white and gold version with chrome inside, and the caramel colored with chrome works in the internal parts. Also the surfaces of these caskets could be made available in matt or glossy finish, which blends perfectly well with the overall structure. The unique curved bodies of these crystal and porcelain animals are made by hand to bring out the realism in them, as well as the soft overtone makes them appealing to the children as well.

Might not be high on utility, this zoo shall be a fair choice for those who wish to decorate their showcases with something different. Would be a good choice, for those who like to collect artifacts with a unique finish.
