Bell & Ross WW1 special edition watch combines the history of aviation and watch-making
Rebirth of an aviation instrument; the military history’s ultimate master watchmaker Bell & Ross now pays its tribute to the history of military aviation with its new Vintage WW1 Chronographe Monopoussoir which has been exclusively designed with the greatest respect for the original one, the first wristwatch worn by pilots during the World War 1. Particularly passionate about aviation which actually made precise timekeeping one of its key navigational tools, Bell & Ross created this retro, modern as well as extremely functional timepiece that truly illustrates the unique parallel between the history of aviation and that of watch-making. Also, we have earlier seen some of the exclusive Bell & Ross timepieces like the limited edition twelve ‘o’clock art watch, the BR 01 Horizon inspired by the aircraft cockpits, and the limited edition casino watch, to name a few.
A complication that is as practical as it is functional, the Vintage WW1 Chronographe Monopoussoir facilitates the short period time measurement by the press of a single button, which has been beautifully incorporated into the crown and operates all commands of the chronograph.
Combined with period functionality, the timepiece will be available in two versions; the WW1 Chronographe Monopoussoir Heritage and the WW1 Chronographe Monopoussoir Ivory Dial.
While using the modern techniques to recreate the effects of passing time, the Heritage version truly refers to the World War 1 aviation history. Its brown dial with a distressed look, the sand-colored numerals, index and hands are reminiscent of the dials of old watches, giving a retro-chick appeal to this model.
With more of classic and elegant styling, the Ivory Dial version boasts an eponymous ivory dial, snailed counters, pear-shaped blue-steel hands, all giving this model a true WW1 period feel. It also features a blue alligator strap which perfectly completes the timepiece’s elegance.
