Benetti debuts its longest yacht “Diamonds Are Forever” at the Cannes Boat Show
The icon of incomparable elegance focused on combining timeless yacht design, world class quality and a maniacal attention to intricate details, the prestigious and historical Italian shipyard Benetti Yachts founded in 1873, will woo the yacht enthusiasts at Cannes Boat Show and Monaco Yacht Show 2012 with its impressive ‘Diamonds are Forever’ superyacht. Though, this 61m displacement yacht started her life with official name Benetti FB253 61m, but to her owner John Staluppi, she is Diamonds are Forever, a name that is the personal signature of her experienced yacht owner, who has always been a great fan of the James Bond saga. In addition to be the longest boat of this 2012 Cannes Festival da la Plaisance, it will also be the longest of the entire 35 years history of prestigious Cannes Boat Show.
The concept and layout of Diamonds are Forever have been meticulously crafted around each and every requirement of its owner Mr. John Staluppi. The superyacht’s elegant external lines are based on Benetti’s engineering and naval architecture, producing a balanced combination of traditional design elements and modern innovative style solutions.
Onboard, customization duly meets all of the yacht owner’s desires and needs; bringing Diamonds are Forever into a class of her own, with a brief to ensure a layout that offers maximum guest satisfaction in terms of comfort, space and services.
It includes the cabin arrangements, wheelhouse location, the interior décor and the extra-addition of a top deck located above the flybridge to create a spectacular private panoramic deck 12m above the sea level.
Further, the interior layout comprises of 2 panoramic spacious master-suites and 4 guest state-rooms, a special guest elevator to all the decks, a sky lounge and vast open and shaded deck spaces for ultimate yachting experience. Also, there’s an additional top deck, located above the sun deck, which is also served by the central elevator. And, the aft part of the sun deck also allows easy touch and go-helicopter operations.
Diamonds are Forever offers accommodation for up to 12 discerning guests in 6 cabins, which is formed by 4 cabins located on the lower deck, a split level VIP suite, the master Owners suite on the upper deck, both with a 180° view sea view.
Styled in a smart yet casual fashion, the upper deck is ideal for informal gatherings, evident by the wet bar, grand piano and card table. Guests have the option of indoor and outdoor dining, as at the flick of a switch the dining table can be fully opened to the Sky Lounge.
The main deck level is complemented by a fitness room and a relaxation & beauty parlour, which can be open to all guests or sectioned off as part of the VIP/2nd owners suite.
The main Saloon is an opulent space using multiple exotic veneers, etched glass, and mother of pearl inlay.
Sky Deck/Sun Deck:
Those who love enjoying the sun and gentle breeze will undoubtedly spend most of their time on the Sky Deck, a secluded and intimate space with ample room for sun loungers, and forward seating. And, the Sun Deck is very versatile, offering shaded casual dining, a large Jacuzzi, full wet bar, and 2 large screen TVs.
The 4 Guest Cabins on the lower deck offer 3 King size doubles and 1 twin. All feature en suite bathrooms.
The magnificent owner’s suite has been well thought out for guest use, with the opulent hallway providing seclusion for each area comprising, private study, bathroom, separate toilets, walk-thru wardrobe and the plush main bedroom.
Evan K. Marshal/Usonia V, a London based interior specialists who has earlier designed yachts for Mr. and Mrs. Staluppi, has done complete custom design furnishings and interior décor of the Diamonds are Forever. The sumptuous classic interior uses fine Italian marble, onyx, Madrona burl wood, gold leaf, mother of pearl and Marieux crystal.
With main engine as Caterpillar 3512B 1380 kW @ 1600 rpm and Detra five blades propellers, Benetti FB253 61m has a maximum speed of 16 knots and an oceanic range of 4,800 nautical miles at 12 knots.
