Bio Robot Refrigerator

Bio Robot Refrigerator
Electrolux Design Lab holds annual competitions for creating home appliances with a fresh theme each year.  ‘The 2nd Space Age’ was the theme announced by Electrolux for 2010 in which participants were to give a new design to present household appliances that would be used in 2050 which would not only save on space but would also be energy efficient.  Yuriy Dmitriev, a student from Russia came out with the concept of the Bio Robot Refrigerator in which luminescence is used to cool the biopolymer gel and thus keep the food cold.  The biopolymer gel which is non-sticky and the food items are inserted into this gel which creates separate pods in the process of encapsulating the food items.  The design of this refrigerator looks very surreal and contains no drawers or doors and the robot cools all the individual food items according to the optimal temperature.  It is one single piece of green gel that is contained in a frame and is four times smaller than the size of a regular fridge. This concept has created quite a rage not only because of its innovative concept that gives the refrigerator a futuristic twist, but also because the design can be oriented in whichever manner- whether horizontally, vertically and can even be hung on the ceiling!  The Bio Robot Refrigerator can easily fit into any sized apartment as its size can be modified. .  The refrigerator works on the method of transforming the incoming UV radiation into visible light which provides the cooling through different wavelengths.  The refrigerator can be filled to 90% of the available space into separate pods that ensures that each food item is cooled at an optimum temperature, without odors of the foods mixing in. Cooling boxes have been used since the 1700s and even today they are very much in use.  However, once the Bio Robot Refrigerator makes its debut in 2050, the world will see a new technology that will change the manner in which food is cooled. The Bio Robot Fridge is still a concept; however it would be very interesting to see how Electrolux develops the concept and shapes it up in the near future.  This fridge looks extremely different which will provide the owner a clear view of what all is contained inside.  However, a little drawback might me detected a foul smell of rotting food which might need lengthy searching to get rid of the smell in the kitchen!
