BMW X5 Diesel

There are not much changes made to the 2012 BMW X5, since the company feels that it still possesses the firepower to maintain its position at the top of the list for luxury crossover SUVs. The car boasts of powerful engines, a re-christened interior and perfect on-road credentials, thereby encompassing nearly every modern amenity that can be expected from a luxury SUV. Developments made to BMW's iDrive interface also makes controlling these features easier. Various engine choices are also on offer including a turbocharged six-cylinder, a burly twin-turbo V8, a torque-rich diesel variant and 555-hp monster variant in the X5 M. Buyers must also be aware that the optional third-row seats are comfortable only for children and heavy steering effort at low speeds coupled with a stiff riding experiences in some terrains may lower some of X5’s shine.

The interiors of the BMW X5 include cruise control, premium leather vinyl upholstery, 10-way super front seats, BMW Assist tele-matics with Bluetooth and a 12-speaker audio system with a CD player, High Definition radio player, an iPod/USB audio interface and a supporting audio jack. The xDrive35d is similarly equipped but adds a panoramic sunroof, automatic-dimming mirrors, heated front seats and the availability of additional options. The cabin of the 2012 edition X5 is not without its drawbacks, since the second-row seats are positioned a bit too low to the floor, even though headroom is plentiful. Long-legged passengers will likely lament this seating position, as it compels to keep the knees upwards. The discretionary third row is even more cramped and can only accommodate children. Once both the rows are folded, cargo space measures up to 75 cubic feet, which is about average in its class.

The exteriors of the BMW X5 xDrive35i include features like 18-inch wheels, fog lights, automatic and receptive xenon headlights, automatic wipers, roof rails, a power tailgate with changeable opening height and parking sensors. The xDrive35i Premium accentuates the 35d's features with 19-inch alloy wheels, concealing glasses, a power-adjustable steering wheel and leather upholstery, which are available as options on the xDrive35d.)
