Bugatti 16C Galibier

Bugatti 16C Galibier

For more than a century now, Bugatti has always remained an epitome of luxury, exclusivity, style, elegance and extraordinary design. The company has a long legacy in the design and manufacture of outstanding automobile brands. And so, when the release of the Bugatti 16C Galibier was announced in late 2009, there was considerable interest generated among the elite. Its specialty lies in the fact that this is Bugatti's first ever four-door sedan and they have spared no effort or expense in loading it up with the best in comfort and luxury. The production model is due to arrive anytime in 2012 or 2013 and Bugatti seeks to create it as a sedan which is peerless. The car has been compared to more than a dozen cars in its design and capabilities, but we must say that, on a whole, it is something totally unique. The car is expected to sell at about $1.6 million.

Interior

Making Galibier the ultimate luxury sedan was the chief aim of the Bugatti interior designers and engineers. The first look shows it as amazingly neat with minimal gauges and switches. The secondary instrumentation has been digitized and well-concealed behind the wheel so that it does not clutter the cabin looks. There is a central console that houses that flush and plush transmission selector. This console also continues into the rear-passenger compartment as a flying buttress. The bucket seats have been painstakingly sculpted with aluminium headrests. The windows are built so large and neat that the car could prove therapeutic for the claustrophobics! The climate-control, power steering, power windows, safety airbags, ABS, button start and an awesome audio system are all taken for granted!

It would be an understatement to say that jaws drop on the first sight of the Galibier. Absolutely striking in the flesh, the car looks like it has arrived from a futuristic time period with its overall teardop-shape. Right at front are the carefully sculpted headlamps that are constituted by LED bulbs in separate buckets of their own. A gently glowing frame borders the lamps and the bonnet is constituted by two doors which open like pages of a book. A prominent 'spine' runs from nose to tail intersecting so many other design elements and blending well into the teardrop theme. The detailing in the tail-lights is also mesmerizing and below them are eight polished exhausts in two sets of four. The mirror, the windshield and the glass - all stand out from the sheer attention to detail what Bugatti is famous for.
