Burberry Iconic Trench Coat Inspires “The Britain” Watches
Most famous for its iconic Trench Coat invented by founder Thomas Burberry, the legendary British luxury fashion label has been in the trench business for over 150 years. And, now based on the same design principles and master craftsmanship as their celebrated Trench Coat, Burberry has introduced exclusive timepieces which are the embodiment of brand’s rich British heritage and all inspirations. Dubbed as The Britain, these automatic timepieces that actually marries Burberry’s heritage and functional design values with modernity and innovation, creating a watch that is elegant as it is relaxed, also marks the fashion brand’s first venture into the luxury watch market.
Timepieces The Britain boasts rounded octagonal shape with distinctive bolts entirely inspired by the classic Burberry trench coat’s D-ring closure, while its functional design combines with careful engineering to create elegant timeless watches.
Further, the watch’s multi-faceted case construction reflects light through a blend of brushed and polished steel surfaces, and the streamlined, simple dial emphasizes the iconic design of the case, with innovative domed case back.
And, the Swiss made Soprod 9040 self-winding mechanical movement gets further magnified with its transparent case back with sapphire crystal that gives views into craftsmanship. Whereas the anti-reflective, shock and scratch resistant sapphire crystal protects the dial and movement from elements.
The Britain comes with hand-stitched alligator straps inspired by iconic Burberry color palette, and bracelets in stainless steel with brushed and polished surface combinations. Notably, the hands feature custom designed trench colored Super Luminova.
Shot in London by photographer Mario Testino under the creative direction of Christopher Bailey, The Britain’s advertising campaign features the black and white portraits which features English actress and model Gabriella Wilde.
