Furniture designed by Glen D Fuller

Auto lovers have traditionally loved to bring in the auto-theme into every aspect of their life possible, and one of them has been even the furniture they use. We have earlier showed you some unusual but attractive designs such as the recycled Vespa Scooter chairs and the motorcycle chair that used the actual components of motorbikes. Now, it’s Glen D. Fuller who brings in an attractive range of tables called Ava, which used building material and the finishing touches used in Formula 1 vehicles.

With the design expertise of over 3 decades, industrial products designer Glen D. Fuller and his company Fuller Design Associates, have joined hands with 6 motorsport companies from Indianapolis to bring in this range of furniture that shall borrow a lot in essence from the motorsport vehicles. One of the main highlights, the AVA coffee table uses the same quality of carbon fiber as the Aerodyne motor vehicles does, and gives the finishing of the surface from the similar area of expertise as the racing cars.

To retain the light weight and use a lesser amount of the material, the core of the design is a honeycomb structure, which gives it the strength and the necessary structure build-up for being a high-strength piece of furniture, even more than steel which is otherwise commonly used. The coffee table for that matter is just 13 pounds in weight so it can be moved around easily, but at the same time, not get damaged. For the finishing as we notice on modern day racing cars, there is a multi-coating procedure where the 6 to 7 coats are used on the surface with sand-blocking done after each coat and then finally polished off to give it the necessary feel. So, along with the durable structure, comes a durable finish too, which won’t loose its luster and shine easily!

Depending on the furniture, the prices are going to vary. But the coffee table which we speak about would be available for $9,500 apiece. Next in pipeline would be many other such pieces such as desks, chairs and gathering tables. So for all auto lovers who like to surround themselves with anything and everything to do with vehicles, here comes a stylish option to choose from.
