But the question is, what kind of pets actually comes in the category of being exotic? And the answer comes from the celebrities who notably stand as inspiration for all things ‘exclusive’. Starting from Michael Jackson and Mike Tyson who once owned a Bengal Tiger, to the celebs like George Clooney who owned a pig, Kristen Stewart has a Wolf dog as pet, Nicolas Cage has an Octopus, Elvis Presley had a Kangaroo, Leonardo DiCaprio's Tortoise, Kim Kardashian’s family owned a Chimp, Justin Bieber's snake named Johnson Usher's recently owned puppy which is an Adorable $12,000 Goldendoodle, and Miley Cyrus newly owned pint-sized pooch named Rosie, the celebs has it all.
1). Mike Tyson’s Pigeons
Renowned as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles, the retired American professional boxer and a former undisputed world heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson has a soft corner in his heart when it comes to pigeons, his pets. Known across the globe as Iron Mike, this strong-willed boxer turned to his pets for solace and sanity ever since the death of his 4-year-old daughter Exodus died in a tragic accident. His pigeons are the key to the turnaround, just as they calmed him growing up in crime-ridden Brownsville, New York.
Mike who often indulges in pigeon racing, feels that these birds are very loyal and wishes to die with them fluttering around him.
2). Reese Witherspoon’s Donkey
For the animal loving American actress, film & TV producer Reese Witherspoon, donkeys are for life, and she added two of the miniature donkeys named Honky and Tonky to her growing menagerie.
These miniature donkeys called donks are cute, docile, sweet and compassionate, and are actually joined 2 pigs, 3 goats, 20 chickens, 3 dogs and 1 horse which hang around with the pair on her expansive California property. Reese, mother of two has also instructed her kids to help her clean the stalls.
3). George Clooney’s Pig
A pig is the animal that made Hollywood heartthrob of millions and one of the sexiest man alive, George Clooney laugh. Though, this talented actor noted for his social activism made no secret of his love for his dog, Einstein, but recently he opened up about his other famous pet, a pot-bellied 300 pound pig Max. Clooney who thinks pigs are smart kept Max for as long as 18 years until the animal died in 2006. The actor got the pig in 1988 as a gift for his then companion Kelly Preston, and he was so attached to his pet that he sometimes allowed Max to sleep in his own bed. Max also used to accompany Clooney to a few of his interviews.
4). Michael Jackson’s Tiger "Thriller"
The late King of Pop and the most successful entertainer of all times Michael Jackson who was famously pictured with a tiger cub on the CD cover of his 1982 successful album, and often spoke for his lover for animals bought himself a Royal Bengal tigress and named her Thriller too, probably as tribute to that incredibly successful album. Renowned as one of the stars of Michael Jackson's former Neverland Ranch home, his pet Bengal tiger, Thriller recently died of lung cancer at actress-activist Tippi Hedren's wildlife preserve in California. Reportedly, the 13-year-old animal weighing 375 pounds at death, along with her brother Sabu, were transferred to a wildlife centre in California run by the American actress and activist Tippi Hendren in 2006 when the late singer's ranch was closed after he failed to pay staff.
5). Michael Jackson Chimp
Besides owning the Bengal tiger ‘Thriller’, the late King of Pop MJ alsoe owned an exotic Chimpanzee named Bubbles, which was said to be the constant companion in the late 1980s. Reportedly, Michael Jackson seemed to love his pet so much that he ordered for an expensive art work featuring him and Bubbles, and the pet also used his toilet, help him clean, and used a spoon and fork at the dinner table.
But their loving-relationship ended by early 2002, when Bubbles was removed from Jackson’s Neverland Ranch because he became too aggressive. After the death of MJ, Bubbles is living a happy, retired life in "The Center of Great Apes" sanctuary in Florida, where he spends his time painting and hanging out with other chimps.

American actress and singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus got a unique birthday present in the form of a rescued pig called ‘Nora’ from PETA for her 20th birthday in recognition of her sterling work to promote animal friendly causes. Nora, a resident at Kindred Spirits Sanctuary, a farm in Ocala, Fla., that provides refuge to abused or neglected animals, as per PETA, was the perfect birthday gift for a young woman like her who encourages others to help animals. Miley also recently proved her support for the animal when she tweeted to her 10 million Twitter followers asking them to show support to end the inhumane treatment meted out to pigs.
7). Britney Spears Puppy
American recording artist and entertainer, the pop diva Britney Spears recently announced that she’s the pet parent of her adorable new puppy named Hannah and introduced her tiny ball of fur to her over 22 million Twitter followers. However, the canine cutie is already very popular on the internet world as Spears has already set up Hannah’s twitter account which has acquired nearly 7,000 followers till now. Notably, Hannah is not the first pet for the Spears household since she already owns other pooches.
8). Mike Tyson’s Tiger
Boxing world’s undisputed champion Mike Tyson who has a soft corner in his heart for pigeons, also once owned three Royal Bengal Tigers. Two of them were female white Bengal tigers named “Kenya” and “Storm” and the third one was a golden colored male big cat christened “Boris”. Notably, one of them even made a movie appearance in the 2009 hit ‘The Hangover’ with Tyson. It’s been reported that he spent around $4000 a month for its maintenance. And, when he failed to acquire proper license for holding them, they were taken from him by the U.S. authorities and sent to a refuge in Colorado.
9). Kristen Stewart’s Wolf dog "Jack"
The Twilight saga actress Kristen Stewart has a pet wolf-dog, Jack, who is the oldest male among the many wolf-dog hybrids, only legal in some states of America, which her mother has been raising for long.
The starlet says that the animals are real sweet and good-natured, and her pet Jack is so sweet that he uses to fall at her feet. However, Kristen doesn’t really advice others to own wolf dogs as they are hard to take care of due to their unpredictable temperament. She also stated that all of the rearing and caring of her pet is apparently done by her mother.
10). Elvis Presley’s Kangaroo
A cultural icon, one of the most popular musicians of the 20th century, the King of Rock 'n' Roll commonly known by his single name Elvis preferred to adopt the Australian national animal Kangaroo as his pet. The exotic Australian mammal was presented to Presley wrapped in a crate at MGM Studios by Hollywood booking agent Lee Gordon in June 1957 with the sole purpose of playing a harmless prank on the music sensation. Elvis knew next to nothing about kangaroos and this lack of knowledge was amply reflected in his juvenile attempts to train the animal. Finally after repeated unsuccessful attempts Presley gave up and gifted the kangaroo to the Memphis zoo.
11). Kim Kardashian’s Chimp
Famous for being famous; the realty TV star Kim Kardashian adopted a 3-year-old pet chimpanzee named Suzy while filming the TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”. The actress was roundly criticized for her awful choice of a pet animal since it came just after a week a chimp mauled and grievously injured a woman in the US. Also, many bloggers described the acquisition as a publicity stunt by the headline hungry Kardashian family. However, Kim was rattled by the criticism and apologized to the public in her blog and clarified that the chimpanzee acquisition was not aimed at hurting anyone’s sentiments.

Renowned as Hanna Montana, Miley was accompanied by her sister Noah and her mother to by the puppy named ‘Rosie’ from the Pet Boutique in LA. The animal lover Miley already has 5 rescue pets of her own along with the pig Nora.
13). Usher’s Puppy 'Poppy Raymond"
American musician Usher Raymond IV, who performs under the mononym Usher has recently got a new puppy, a female Goldendoodle for $12,000 at the Second Annual Pencils of Promise Gala in Guastavino in New York. The puppy which is a cross-bred dog that is a mix between a golden retriever and a poodle, has been named ‘Poppy’, which is inspired by the event title Pencils of Promise ‘PoP.’ However, Usher’s hefty charitable donation will help Justin Bieber endorsed organization Pencils of Promise’s efforts to build 100 schools. Donating funds to adopt a new pet wasn't the only kind gesture Usher made at the event. The "Numb" singer also donated a private dance lesson $65,000 each as an auction item.
14). Leonardo DiCaprio's Tortoise
Noted for his portrayals of complex characters, Leonardo DiCaprio who’s one of the Hollywood’s leading performers and has been working almost non-stop since the age of 17, bought an exotic pet, a 38-pound Sulcata tortoise for a mere $400 back in 2010 at the North American Reptile Breeders Conference and Trade Show in Anaheim, CA. The actor’s 10-year-old tortoise could grow to as big as 200 pounds, and the species of that kind have an expected lifespan of 80 years.
15). Nicolas Cage's Octopus
Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage is not only renowned for his blue-eyes, intense on- and off-screen personality and his passion for method acting, but also for his free-spending nature on almost any odd thing that actually led to his financial mess. And part of that mess was his alleged $276,000 spending on two king cobras named Moby and Sheba, and an octopus. Interesting, it was also reported that Cage claims that he bought the octopus and other different exotic living beings because they help him with his acting.
Irrespective of the fact that Octopi are difficult pets to have, as they need a spacious home, and are anti-social, and some can be poisonous, Nicolas Cage splashed out $150,000 for this pet.
16). Justin Bieber’s Snake 'Johnson'
The singing sensation Justin Bieber who’s honored as the most successful child star since Michael Jackson attracted a lot of attention with his choice of pet, a baby boa constrictor ‘snake’ named Johnson. The pop star while picking up the award for the Best Male Video at the MTV Video Music Awards last year, also brought along the snake. However, it’s been reported that Justin and Johnson were set to go their separate ways, as the snake was being auctioned for charity.
