Audio giant Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) has announced the launch of their 5.1 home theater system at CES 2008. The vendors, whose all-time bestsellers include the famous Zeppelin iPod dock, unveiled plans to release a high-end channel wireless surround sound system later in the year. The proposed unit will include speaker features that will incorporate 2.4 GHz wireless technology to connect to upto five speakers and a subwoofer. The Liberty system is estimated to retail for around $15,000 when it sees a formal launch a few months from now. Although the company showcased only the speakers and a diagram of the proposed prototype at the CES in Las Vegas, Director of Business Development for New Media at B&W, Greg William is optimistic about the product. Initially the system is expected to be sold as a complete unit, but the speakers are expected to be made available separately as well in the future.
