After Audi’s trimaran yacht by German designer Stephanie Behringer, another futuristic trimaran yacht that has left us spell bound is this 42.5m Adastra trimaran, which is under production by John Shuttleworth Yacht Designs Ltd., based in West Sussex, England. This one-off superyacht is being built in China for the company’s clients Anto and Elaine Marden based in Hong Kong. The powerful trimaran is the result of more than 5 years of design to cater to the voyaging needs of the couple and their family. The super yacht is designed for efficient long range cruising, but its not just about the performance, every detail has been looked upon to make it one of the most luxurious super yachts.
The yacht features a striking design; the superstructure is carbon fibre with Nomex honeycomb core, the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam. Every part of the boat is custom built to make it light weight, including carbon fiber hatches, portlights, ladders and even hinges, which are all built specifically for the vessel. The vessel has a fully automated fuel management system including an Alfa Laval system for cleaning the fuel for low fuel consumption and efficient performance.
The structural design includes a 16 metre beam that features a saloon area on the main deck which offers superb panoramic views and accommodates a lounge area, dining table, and navigation station. The aft deck has space for a 4.9 metre tender and directly below is a garage, which can store a 3.1 metre tender. The garage door has been designed to fold out and create a large dive platform.
The master’s cabin is located at the aft with access from the deck saloon. Further, two guest cabins, and accommodation for the crew are located forward of the engine compartment below the deck by slightly flaring the central hull just above the waterline. Adastra offers comfortable accommodation for nine guests and up to six crew members.
The technical highlights include its unique anchoring system with 3 anchors all driven by carbon fibre drum winches run by hydraulics. The super yacht boasts a maximum speed of 22.5 knots and can cover 4000 miles at a range of 17 knots. The yacht is being built at McConaghy Boats, Zhuhai, China.
