Cinema De La Mer: Hollywood-style home theatre in a Palm Beach residence
delamer screen Cocooning is the way to go in the recession. So getting a custom-built home theater has had its allure intact with the super rich. In the past, we have reported on some of the opulent custom-made home theaters, including the incredible Death Star theater and the Ultimate Home Theater modelled after the Titanic. The latest grand entrant is “Cinema De La Mer” built in a Palm Beach, Florida residence (and yes, that’s the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire running there). The client wanted a theater that represented the Hollywood movie house elegance of old, as well as the viewing experience of a grand theater. So, this 13-seat movie room replicates the theater experience complete with a lobby, a 14-foot wide Stewart CineWide screen with projections from a TITAN Reference 1080p projector from Digital Projection. To get the images full-screen a TheaterScope anamorphic optical system is employed, allowing the 16x9 projector to display both 1.78:1 and 2.35:1 content. The reflection problem is taken care of by adding anti-reflective Filmport lenses that are often used in commercial cinemas. No word on how much this traditional-styled custom home theatre has cost its owner, but who cares when you have a fortune to spend on material luxuries. Via: Hemagazine
