Sleep, cook, relax, play or just shelter, here’s the revolutionary piece of furniture on which one can happily live in. Developed by Zurich-based Micasa Lab which earlier impressed the design world by developing a modernized version of the traditional rocking chair, the world’s first iPad Rocking Chair ‘iRock’ which even charges your iOS devices, the Cocoon 1 is a new type of furniture that actually transcends the border between object and space while challenging how we perceive furniture. This $2,990 confined space is truly a bottom line when it comes to the human need of shelter, for survival against nature, for solitude among people or for defining the different functions in our life.
Interestingly, by just adding different modules ranging from sleeping modules to cooking and storage modules, the functions of the Cocoon 1 which is spacious enough to create a room, changes as per the needs.
Measuring 180 cm in diameter, the completely transparent Cocoon 1 comes with a set of attachments, offering a variety of placing on floor, elevated or attached to the ceiling.
The Cocoon 1 also comes with a net which impressively enables it to be hung in trees, on buildings or even as a cluster of other Cocoons.
Further, every Cocoon 1 comes with 3 basic modules; the Foundation 360 and two Pillow 90 modules which can be combined or replaced with other modules for customization.
However, on the same note we have seen some of the other examples like the Bubble tents which are an unusual huts for unusual nights under the stars, besides the Cocoon Tree Pod which can be installed anywhere for nesting in luxury, and the Ornate Garden's rotating pods for your own revolving restaurant in the backyard.
