Born as Cynthia Ann Stephanie "Cyndi" Lauper has an estimated net worth of $15 million.  Lauper listened to artists like Judy Garland, the Beatles, Billie Holiday, and also Ella Fitzgerald when she was younger. She started writing her own songs and played an acoustic guitar given by her sister when she was 12 years old. Lauper, even at a young age, expressed herself through dyeing her hair in varied colours as well as wearing rather radical fashions. Later, Lauper got accepted at a special public high school for individuals with visual arts talent. However, she dropped out and earned her GED later. This icon left home at 17 years old and planned to study art. She found herself in Canada and spent about two weeks in the woods together with her dog Sparkle just trying to find herself. Lauper settled in Vermont and took art classes at the Johnson State College. She supported herself by working different odd jobs. During the early 1970s, Lauper became a vocalist of various cover bands around the New York metropolitan area singing hits by bands. However, this singer wasn’t happy in singing cover songs. Sadly, she had to take a year off as her vocal chords got damaged in 1977. After seeing three doctors, they said that she would never be able to sing again. Miraculously, Lauper did get her voice back and was able to sing again through the aid of vocal coach Katie Agresta. It was in 1983 where Lauper released her debut solo album She’s So Unusual and became the first debut female album to have charted four top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Her most notable songs are “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, “All Through the Night”, “She Bop”, and also “Time After Time.” This allowed her to win the Best New Artist award at the 1985 27th Grammy Awards. Her continued success in the music industry made her one of the most iconic singers in her time.
