Daddy Yankee is an artistic name that immediately brings one word to mind- Reggaeton. Also known for his deep and sustained interest in the underground movement, this Grammy-award winning Latin recording artist 'Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez' has to his name sterling performances in more than 70 albums. Being one of the many pioneers of Reggaeton music, he has earned the nickname, El Cangri. Also an actor and producer of movies, this artists actually did more than anyone to establish reggaeton as a marketable music style during the early 21st century.
The success of Barrio Fino opened up many financial avenues for Daddy Yankee. He signed a $20 million contract with Interscope Records and also earned from his endorsements for Pepsi, extensive international performance tours in more than 30 countries to date. With a maverick approach, Yankee created his own label, El Cartel Records and is the CEO of the same. He has invested in his own production house, publishing house and line of footwear. A man of big philanthropic heart, he has created the Corazón Guerrero foundation which works to transform the lives of poor Latin American children. He is also an active contributor to the Red Cross. Bringing a whiff of fragrance to music styles, Yankee is now well established in his own line of colognes and fragrances too. The artist was born in Rio Piedras as Ramon Ayala and was interested in music from a tender age. He aspired, however, to be a baseball player in the Major League, but a leg injury forced him to let go of that career and Reggaeton will surely be grateful for that. He became a part of the underground rap movement and received lessons from several artists of the genre. Playero 37 was his first production after which came No Mercy, his first solo album.
