Dassault Falcon 5X: The First Skylight Private Jet

Dassault Falcon 5X: The First Skylight Private Jet
Dassault, the French aircraft manufacturer has launched it first innovative private jet concept in ten years- the Dassault Falcon 5X.  The main highlight of this jet is that it is the first private jet with a skylight. The Falcon is equipped with the latest Snecma Silvercrest engines which would make the jet ore fuel efficient as compared to contemporaries like Gulfstream’s G450 by 30% and Bombadier’s Global 5000 by 35%.  The jet is designed in a way that it makes it feasible for deep descents, enabling it to land at more airports.  Furthermore, it has the capacity to land with 95% of its maximum take-off weight, which is again the optimal in the industry.  This means that in the case of an emergency landing immediately after take-off, the 5X does not have to burn or dump extra fuel for safety purposes. The 5X can carry 16 passengers and when carrying half capacity i.e. 6 passengers, the jet can fly up to 5,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.8, which means that it can travel non-stop from a distance spanning from New York to Moscow or from Sao Paulo to Chicago. There are big windshields in the cockpit that enables the pilot to see both the wingtips which helps whilst maneuvering the aircraft on the ground.  The 5X can also be equipped dual Head Up Displays as well as the latest Honeywell radar that can provide information pertaining to distantly located thunderstorms. Dassault has designed the interior of the jet in a very contemporary style with an overall feeling of spaciousness. To compliment this, the wide aisle is 8’6” wide with a spacious 39 feet-long cabin that offer comfort in terms of space.  The 6’6” high ceiling is again a plus and offers a great advantage to tall travelers.  Furthermore, the owner of this jet can customize the seating arrangement located in the three individual lounge areas, according to their preference.  The seats are equipped with concealed compartments that make it easy for storing various devices and phones in a smart and neat manner. However, the highlight of the jet is the skylight- which makes this aircraft the first of its kind.  There will be bigger windows and skylights that would illuminate the jet with natural light. If all goes to plan, Dassault would conduct the first test flight during the first half of 2015.
