Dedicated to creating innovative luxury products that exemplify the American spirit, California-based design lab Devon earlier broke a new horizon in horology by pushing the boundaries of mechanical craftsmanship with its engineering masterpiece Tread 1. The daring, inventive, and cutting-edge electro-mechanical timepiece amazed the horological world with its exposed movement of interwoven Time Belts based system which was used to indicate the time. Now, Devon has unveiled a steam-punk version of this mechanical wonder, the Devon Tread 1 Steampunk, whose design-style exudes a retro-futuristic feel of the standard Tread 1 watch.
This Steampunk version of the Tread 1 actually got started as a concept or a dream project, but based on the overwhelming response; it has now become a reality, an ultimate in Victorian Futurism.
With its bolted brass casing and aeronautically engineered mechanical conveyor belt time system, this exclusively new timepiece will be the epitome of the steampunk movement, which was originally inspired by the inventive and daring spirit of the Age of Steam, the period of industrialization that took place approximately between year 1770 and 1914.
The watch works with a 2 microns thin conveyor belts, which moves the numerals into exactly the right positions at precisely the right times. Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery which recharges using wireless induction, this limited edition watch boasting optical recognition system that constantly aware of the position of each of those tiny belts, will be made available at a price tag of $25,000.
