Luxury luggage company Tumi’s heritage of design excellence appeals to the worlds most sophisticated consumers who chose only the best to complement their unique lifestyle. Catering to the needs of discerning travelers, Tumi has earlier partnered with motorcycle maker Ducati to deliver trendy travel bags and cases and created custom travel cases for 2012 Lexus LFA. Now, for the first time, Tumi has collaborated with external designer Dror Benshetrit to create a new product line, Dror for Tumi that will be unveiled at MOST on April 18 at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Bringing his quirky brand of innovation to luggage section that solely needs it; Dror has designed Dror for Tumi, an awesome transforming luggage that represents pinnacle of design innovation for leading travel, business and lifestyle brand. With the tagline “TransForm Follows Function”, the new transforming luggage line includes 11-pieces incorporating groundbreaking features that adapts for multiple uses, and even responds to the multifaceted lifestyle of today’s traveler.
With an idea to develop a series of versatile and long-lasting products in which function and purpose are paramount, Dror and Tumi together pushed the boundaries of engineering and manufacturing to create this collection, without sacrificing elegance and aesthetic detailing. To create the line, it took 18 months of research and development, with Dror drawing from his personal travel experiences design the collection.
The collection includes the soft travel, hard-side cases and business bags that are capable of dynamic ‘transformation.’ Eight of the travel bags transform in some way or the other, literally changing shapes or expanding to accommodate different function and modes of use. The most notable is the International Carry-on, the first-ever expandable zipper-less hardside, representing ingenious engineering.
Offering two stage expansions, this hardside wheeled Carry-On goes from 9” to 14” deep, increasing capacity for 98%.
Further, the revolutionary versatile two-wheeled case allows 4-different size options through a 2-stage expansion possible via a ‘living hinge’ that makes the bag’s depth adjustment possible, thus doubling its overall capacity.
Another highly versatile and useful backpack easily shifts to a tote or brief, by simply adjusting the straps to carry by hand or over the shoulder.
