Elijah Wood put up his Santa Monica home for sale in August 2011 for a reported asking price of $1.85 million. The actor had purchased the house in 1999 from actor Dylan McDermott in a deal valued at $1.5 million. The Spanish style home was built in 1924. Wood’s decision to sell off the home was triggered by the fact that he hardly found any time to reside there since 2004 owing to his hectic work schedule. The house was put on the block as a “tear down” property due to its dilapidated condition. The property finally found a buyer in January 2012 but Elijah had to settle for $1.75 million as the final transaction price.
