Elton John Red Grand Piano to go on sale

A sparkling red Grand Piano replica, of the one used by singer-songwriter Sir Elton John and autographed by him, is stated to go on sale at Leicester, at an estimated price tag of £69,000.
Sir Elton, who is known to bring along a special aura around his performances, wanted to break the traditional monotony of using black pianos which were common in many concerts. Keeping in mind the special venue (Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas), this piano was made on order, and thus sprang the idea of making a limited edition of this piano for a selected few musical connoisseurs. Speaking about the instrument’s history, Mr. Noel Seehan, Director at Seeshan’s says,
“It came about when Elton decided that a normal black piano would look a bit dull on stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where he is currently playing a number of scheduled concerts. A red piano was made for him and the idea of a limited edition series was born.”
After the sale goes through, a large portion of the proceeds generated will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a philanthropic venture of Sir Elton, noted for its contribution toward the treatment and care of AIDS victims. Looking at the larger-than-life persona of the legendary musician, such an idea is naturally conceivable. But what strikes a chord is the gesture of using the proceeds from such an event, for the greater good of people who are in dire need of such deeds of welfare.
