The three-pointed-star German automobile brand, Mercedes-Benz has now finally rolled out the ‘world’s most powerful series production electric car’, dubbed as the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive. The very idea of an electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG which was originally introduced publically as the SLS AMG E-Cell prototype back in 2010, is now complete with this Electric-Drive version, whose market launch will commence in June 2013 at a price tag of $538,625, making it one of the world's most expensive electric cars. As one of the ultra-exclusive highlights of the Mercedes-Benz, the SLS AMG Electric Drive was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2012, where Britain’s Rolls-Royce Motor Cars also presented the Rolls-Royce Art-Deco Inspired cars. Described by Mercedes-Benz as the most powerful vehicle in the AMG stable, this Electric Drive gullwing with blue chrome finish comes equipped with 4 compact electric motors, which produces a combined 740 horsepower, enabling it to sprint to 250 km/h and achieving 0 to 100 km/h in a whip of just 3.9 seconds, along with lithium-ion high-voltage battery that has an energy content of 60 kWh with a voltage of 400 volts.

The liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery of the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive, consists of 12 modules with 72 lithium-ion cells, totaling 864 cells, has an energy content of 60 kWh, with an electric load capacity of 600 kW and has a weight of 548 kg.
Further, it gets charged in just three hours with a special wall box with 22kw, and without the wall box, the Electric Drive charges in about 20 hours.

AMG Lightweight Performance
The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive’s forward-looking bodyshell is actually an integral part of the ambitious lightweight strategy.
Visually, the widely acclaimed design of the SLS AMG combines with specific characteristics that exclusively feature the powerful Electric Drive version, making it an aerodynamically perfect vehicle.
In the side view are the "Electric Drive" lettering on the vehicle side and the AMG light-alloy wheels, 5-twin-spoke design with specific paint design.
While the matt varnish "AMG magno Electric Beam," has been reserved exclusively for the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive.
And, the high-quality, sporty interior takes on the exterior color AMG Electric Beam magno. While the contrast stitching corresponds perfectly with the Exclusive leather black.
Some of the other noted features include new front axle design with pushrod suspension struts, optimum weight distribution and low center of gravity, and the AMG ceramic composite brakes for perfect deceleration.
Concept B-Class Electric Drive
Mercedes-Benz also presented a battery-powered electric variant of the B-Class. A concept vehicle which is one of the first models to incorporate the term "Electric Drive" into its model designation. Notably, in future, "Electric Drive" lettering will adorn the boot lids of all battery-powered electric passenger cars from Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG and smart.
