$230,000 ‘executive’ guard dog for your protection

Wrik Sen / Jun 14 2011

Pedigreed dogs have always been a pride of the owner and much sought after by dog lovers, but with the added price tag, like Julia has, it would be appropriate to classify them as ‘executive dogs’. Trained by the famous Harrison K-9 Security Services, this three-year-old German shepherd comes from a pure pedigree with the qualities of childish playfulness as well as bone-rattling ferocity. As perks, this canine travels in a private executive jet between the cities of Arizona and Minnesota, at the demands of her owner.

Like Julia, several pedigreed German shepherds are being trained at the training centre of Harrison K-9 Security Services, which have

been in the news, recently, for providing such canines for the missions like the one by the United States army against Osama Bin Laden and also to the British Army. Julia and her ilk have been put under a strict training regime, for three years in Germany, before they are transported to South Carolina for training in living with families. Only on successful completion of training, they are given to the new owners.

On a simple command, these otherwise docile animals turn into ferocious guards, who would go to great lengths to protect the owner. Similarly, Julia uses her aggression to protect her master instead of creating her own territory. As a playful mammal, Julia and her peers have won numerous championships and other awards at competitions, which has increased their cost and the cost of their training, but that hasn’t diminished the demand.

The reason for buying Julia was personal security and companionship. Her owner, John Johnson was the owner of a debt collection

company, and it was during the days of operations that Mr. Johnson started to receive personal threats from defaulters. He then decided to take steps for his security rather seriously, and got in touch with the Harrison K-9 Security Services Company, who now caters to private owners like him, only. Ever since, he has been very happy and secure in Julia’s presence and continues to shell out for her pleasure and upkeep, including her travel by private jet when necessary.

As a demonstration, an intruder was asked to enter Mr. Johnson’s compound through the back entrance wall. Sensing a threat, Julia lounged across the lawn and grabbed the person across the arm and wouldn’t let go even when he pulled her up from the ground. Hopefully, this intruder was wearing special protection pads, or else the consequences of the attack were deemed to be rather dire! It was only a simple command that finally made Julia release the intruder.

Our previous coverage on expensive animals includes the World’s most expensive dog, and also the $16 million brood of Tibetan mastiffs. Instances like these only prove that people wouldn’t mind shelling out as long as it is for their favorite pets.
