$33,000 couture outfit to drive away recession blues
During the Great Depression, when people fought to live a life of basic subsistence, some of the decadent ones continued to drink champagne and eat caviar for breakfast. They even ordered the most luxurious couture from Paris. Today, when the global recession is taking place, many people have lost their incomes and are trying to scrimp their budgets. However, some of us just don't have to worry about money, recession or no recession. We may actually be doing a service to the business community when we go ahead and purchase expensive products, while the rest of them shun luxury goods.Hence, the Air New Zealand Fashion Week was a pleasant surprise, with the famous designer Francis Hooper saying the collections were inspired to make women spend more on luxury items. The best of the lot had to be the hand-sewn Swarovski crystals in a collection named “There is No Depression.” This particular outfit in the picture costs a whopping $33,000 and must help you ease of the burden off your bank accounts. You would even feel good about encouraging these designers to come up with more luxury products. Other designers who took part in the show were Cybele Wiren, Annah Stretton, Miranda Dawson and Jacob Scott Simmonds.
