The Avengers #1 comic sells for record price at $250,000
After we saw the historic Amazing Fantasy Spiderman comic book, cross the $1 million in auction price, it’s the Avengers #1 comic which has managed to fetch a sum $250,000 at the auction event Metropolis Collectibles. With an upcoming movie based on the series, the popularity seemed to have touched the skies, as the characters of the comic include the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp which have been a cult favorite since the release in September 1963.

Breaking previous records of Avengers comic book series, this book brings along 2 other major issues tied with itself, for the record price it managed to sell for. The other issues Avengers CGC really never saw the light of the day in publication, but have been long sought after for what might have been their content. For a few of them that actually did manage to retain this particular copy and the others, have guarded them with fierce possessiveness, and haven’t put them on sale. Hence it was only natural that this particular copy, as the ‘mysterious set’ with it, commanded this high a price. The important factor in this result, is the grade 9.6 of comic book set, which means the high quality of the copies are in place despite being nearly 5 decades old. This has ensured that the winning bid be on the higher side.
