Pankaj Goswami / Mar 27 2010

Folding bicycles are as much a prized fashion accessory for the enthusiastic cyclists as they are for the proud engineers, who are looking out for ways to make them ultra-light. In a new effort to develop an ultra-light folding bicycle, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology engineers have collaborated with academic and industry professionals to bring out a new carbon fiber-based bicycle that weighs at just 7 kilograms and stands at 1.42 meters in length and 1 meter in height with 16-inch wheels. Priced at $2,630 per unit, the patented bicycle would go on sale in Korea.
