CES 2008 - Burmester's $50,000 Reference Line CD player
Burmester Audiosysteme, Germany's renowned manufacturer of ultra high-performance electronics and speakers, is exhibiting its 069 Reference Line CD player at the CES show in Las Vegas. The 069 CD player is an advanced digital playback system aimed straight-forward at the true audiophiles. The proprietary belt drive motor system spins the CDs rather than the off-the-shelf direct-drive mechanisms being used by most of other manufacturers. The product sits on an aluminum base and uses special carbon-fiber spring pucks to separate the receptive electronics from external interference. It also comes with newly developed 96 and 192-kHz oscillators with minimal phase noise and high thermal stability. The gorgeous, high-tech CD player touts silver housing with a chrome front panel. Priced at a whopping $49,995.
