CharlElie creates THE LINE to celebrate Saint Honore’s 125th anniversary

Naveen Kumar / Oct 9 2010

For over a century, Saint Honoré has been synonymous with the world-famous "Paris-Style" and has created collections of unparalleled design. To mark the brand’s 125th anniversary in style at the Murano in Paris, CharlElie has created a limited edition watch dubbed THE LINE. The timepiece created by the prolific French artist is contemporary, sophisticated and refined, while being a meditation on Time itself. The watch portrays Time in two ways: linear time, with the straight white line that never ends – hence the watch’s name, THE LINE – but also cyclical time, the eternal new beginning represented by the circle on the dial. The multifaceted artist took his inspiration for THE LINE from the streets of New York, where he has lived since 2004. He said…

I wanted the concept of Time to be revealed in a path. Something that evokes movement: the movement of time, the movement of people. And also the idea of the organised system. A white line, chosen for itself, in a way.

Thierry Frésard, Chairman of Saint Honoré, commented…

With THE LINE, he (CharlElie) offers us not only a new vision of time, as a celebration of eternity, but also adds a new dimension to our collections. Working with an artist of his calibre and creative force really drives us to surpass ourselves.

THE LINE boasts a clear case-back displaying the ETA 2824 movement, with its pearly finish and diamante snailed decoration, oscillating weight with a “Côte de Genève” finish in black gold. It has a stainless steel case with Black PVD finishing, white lacquer at 12h and 6h and black PVD finishing steel crown with SH logo on orange lacquer. The case is mounted on a sophisticated strap in black crocodile leather, which fastens with a pin buckle.

THE LINE watch will be produced in a limited run of 125 pieces.

Thanks, Saint Honoré
