Swiss watch maker Jaeger LeCoultre's 80th anniversary celebrations of its Reverso timepieces continues to enthrall the watch lovers, with a series of master watches in their collection, some of which we have shown you earlier in our coverage of limited edition Reverso watches. The latest timepiece created that marks the celebration series, has been conceptualized by master cartoonist Philippe Chappuis, also known as Zep.

Over the years, Jaeger LeCoultre has preserved and refined many distinct skills used in high-end watch-making, which include enameling. This current timepiece features a Pink Gold enameling on the casing, and also the dial which has been worked upon to include a colored cartoon character by ZEP, on a grayish background lending a unique youthful contrast to the serious and classical design. The character is called ‘Titeuf’. The engraving skills of the watchmaker can also been seen in the ultra-fine work on the watches back, which features another monogram of this cartoon and the watchmaker’s logo. Zep who thought of the abstract idea behind the making of the timepieces explains,

"I have always been fascinated with the miniaturization and the aesthetics of mechanical movements. The idea of slipping Titeuf into a Reverso with its parts so complex and subtle seemed obvious to me. It is also reminiscent of Charlot of Modern Times. I hope that my character will not impede the legendary precision of the Reverso”.
For horological enthusiasts, this is a one-off piece which shall be auctioned at the Artcurial Auction in Paris, the proceeds of which shall go to ‘Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy’. Whoever wins the bid shall have many things to look at in terms of his personal taste, and also the cash that would be needed to ensure his win at the auction.
