KOE Kitchen concept brings back nature to the home
To make the ubiquitous kitchen that is part and parcel of every home an experience in itself, interior architect Esa Vesnanen has conjured up this very different yet classy kitchen concept called the KOE. Koe, in Finnish, means feel or experience and true to it's name almost every part of the kitchen can be felt and experienced. For this, Esa has integrated four natural elements to seamlessly bring nature right into the Koe Kitchen. For this, we first have water which flows as a fountain between two cube-like stones and remains in constant motion to the sink made of recycled plastic. For cooking, you have a sand filled fireplace that sits in a stainless tray that doubles up as a table. Thus, food can be prepared and eaten at the same place. For an absolutely sensory experience, you have a fan that sits in a umbrella like structure. This fan brings the element of wind into the equation and spreads the rich aromas of food. You even have a garden in the Koe to grow your own vegetables.
A movable U-Shaped Wall acts as a partition and also holds the earth required for the garden. Each one of these elements combine functionality with a firm emphasis on the kitchen becoming a place to meet and socialize than just cook. This factor alone is good enough to make the Koe one concept to watch out for. Vesmanen first created his kitchen prototype in 2000. In the second phase, the prototype will be remoulded and turned into a real-time, working kitchen.
