Lectori Salutem Desk by Jeroen Verhoeven is a sheer beauty to look at
I think I've never ever seen a stunning desk like the one created by artist and designer Jeroen Verhoeven. On display at the Blain|Southern gallery in London, the Lectori Salutem Desk by Jeroen Verhoeven looks to be something from a sci-fi world with a magnificent freely flowing form. The Lectori Salutem is a polished steel desk made using the profiles of two of his studio colleagues - his twin brother Joep Verhoeven and Judith de Graauw.

Lectori Salutem is a monumental creation made from highly-polished steel. While ostensibly a desk, its flowing contours and reflective surfaces play smoke and mirrors with the eye; from some aspects it looks like a machine, from others an object of hand-crafted beauty.
The artist took the hand-drawn sketches of 19th-century French cabinetmaker Francois Linke to a computer and distorted them to create something that’s one-of-its-kind. While one end rests on an upturned lip like base, the other stands on hind legs. To create the strikingly beautiful contrast, one side of the desk shows smooth curves and the other reveals the exquisiteness of the engineering inside.
