The Destination: Owned by Virgin billionaire Sir Richard Branson, the Necker Island is a 74-acre private getaway located in the British Virgin Islands, surrounded by the inviting turquoise waters, coral reefs and beautiful sandy beaches. Celebrities like Mariah Carey, Oprah, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have earlier rented the entire island. If you want to make it your own private hideaway, get ready to shell out $53,000 per night, and you may bring up to 28 friends with you.
Luxurious Accommodation: The Necker Island has eight bedrooms in the Great House and six inviting, private Balinese Houses.
The Great House: Situated on Devil's Hill, the Great House of Necker offers its guests breathtaking views of the Caribbean, the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding islands. There are six double rooms, featuring a balcony, king size beds and en-suite bathrooms. The Master Suite on the upper level has an outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor bath and a home entertainment system. The Junior Suite on is on the main level. The Great House also has a large infinity pool, high-tech kitchen and a fully stocked bar.
The Bali Houses: The six private houses, designed in the Balinese style, include Bali Hi, Bali Cliff and Bali Beach that are built on a cliff and the Bali Lo, Bali Buah and Bali Kukila, which stand in the middle of the island with a large private pool.
Things to do: Whether you want to enjoy the scenic beauty in total privacy or have some outdoor fun, Necker Island is the place. Getting there: The nearest international airport is on Tortola, Beef Island, which is a 35-minute flight from San Juan and about 1 hour 20 minute flight from Antigua. From Beef Island, it takes 30 minutes to reach Necker by private launch. By boat, the island is approximately 30 minutes from Tortola. Helicopter service is available from many neighboring islands.
