Marc Newson reinvents the sand hourglass with Ikepod nanoballs hourglass
Marc Newson has earlier shown how to redesign the famous clock with the atmos 566, and now the renowned Australian designer is yet again back on his mission to reinvent the time display with the Hourglass by Marc Newson for Ikepod. The Ikepod Hourglass is a luxurious 60-minute timer hand blown from one single piece of borosilicate glass filled with tiny nanoballs, each coated in different material other then sand. Each hourglass contains 8 million nanoballs and is available in four different models with unique coatings made of carbon, nickel, copper (HGS70), and yellow gold (HGS80). The gold version is the priciest at $28,500, while the other models retail for $15,000.

The smaller hourglasses pieces dubbed "HGSS" are 10 minute timers, and instead of 8 million nanoballs, are filled with 1.3million and retail for $13,000.
