MBL’s gold-plated CD players are a dream for those in the search of true acoustic bliss

MBL is well known for its pricey audio units, including its $180,000 MBL X-treme speakers. The audio manufacturer has gone extreme again with its high-end CD player range featuring 1621A and 1611F priced at $26,600, and $27,300 respectively. This “F-type” D/A converter pushes the analog performance to higher levels and defines a new standard for sound quality. The higher-end 1611F (above) unit features a pure 2-channel D/A converter with integrated noise shaping technology in closed-loop architecture for a pure audio experience. The audio quality is complemented with a highly aesthetic design to create the hype. The MBL 1611 F boasts lavish exteriors with solid brass pedestals and 24-carat hard gold plating for switches and buttons.

MBL’s 1621A Reference CD transport also boasts technical finesse with luxurious looks, though the 1621A must be partnered with the 1611F reference digital to analog converter for a fascinating acoustic experience. It features die-cast aluminum frame, to its massive, spring-mounted 17 lbs. sub-chassis, crafted from brass, aluminum and Terodem (a vibration dampening material and beautifully machined transport lid). Music knows no boundaries, but MBL’s finest audio is clearly designed to seduce the rich audioholics.
