Nandini Maheshwari / Feb 14 2011

For all those times when you want to spin a cocoon and disappear from work to get your creative juices flowing, this $20,000 Feng Shui Cube designed by architecture firm Space Flavor is your way to nirvana. This 1,100-square-foot loft features a two-story rollable steel-framed cube, eight feet per side, and it contains a sleeping area, a study as well as a meditation room. The downstairs compartments are lined with roller shades, which can further be upgraded to shoji screens for an additional $10,000. There is even a shoe/slipper drawer integrated in the stairway to stow away your filthy shoes in order to keep the flooring clean in true Japanese style. The cube stands on wheels, so you can move it in the available secluded corner of your home, so the essence lies in being creative. This urban meditation loft is designed by architect Toshi Kasai for his Feng Shui teacher, Mr. Liu.

The steel frame is the costliest element in the cube, at $12,000; the plywood and plexiglass for the walls and the woodwork, including the hidden cabinetry, cost $6,600, and the electrical work was $1,400.

So, next time you crave for a personal space, this mobile dwelling unit can be configured to suit your requirements without you having to venture out for a secluded space down the busy streets.
