Name: Allen Island

Listed price: $13.5 million

The Property: A private island belonging to Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft. Located south-west of Washington, the island measures a total of 292 acres which includes a wooden vacationing home, airstrip, dock and beaches and of course, the tranquility one would expect from a property like this. It was bought way back in 1992, to make it a fully equipped vacationing retreat but plans were later changed and facilities were limited. Never the less, the vegetation has been maintained beautifully with green surroundings. It was also up for sale in 2005, with a price tag of $25 million but due to the lack of buyers, the island did not change owners’ hands.
