Naveen Kumar / Dec 29 2007

The 5-star Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin Mitte touts to have the largest cylindrical fish tank in the world, standing at a whopping 80 feet tall and containing 260,000 gallons of water. Some 2600 fish of 56 different species of underwater dwellers live inside this huge cylindrical tank called AquaDom. Along with a vast amount of sandblasted glass, the AquaDom enriches the lobby guests and visitors with a transparent-like feeling and moreover, they are able to travel through the aquarium in a glass-enclosed elevator without getting wet. Two full-time divers look after feeding of the fish and maintenance of the aquarium. The AquaDom was opened in December 2003 and it cost about 12.8 million Euros. Presently, you can book a room that looks out into the aquarium for around US $375 a night.
