Rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupé up for grabs

Last year, a rare Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic traded hands for $30-$40 million, setting the record for the highest sum ever paid for a single automobile. We listed the Williamson Bugatti in our list of top 10 record-breaking auctions of 2010. Now, the "sister" of the world’s most expensive car has hit the auction block. RM Auctions will offer a stunning 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante Coupé at its May 21 Villa d'Este sale, and it’s expected to sell for as much as $6.2 million.

The 200hp beauty is one of just over 40 Type 57S chassis built and one of only 17 Atalante Coupés. The car won the Best of Show award during the 26th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 1976. The production of the Type 57 Bugatti began in 1934 and continued until 1940.
