Lately, a London penthouse in the One Hyde Park property development was sold to a mystery buyer for a whopping £136 million ($222 million), which made it the most expensive apartment in the world. Now, the mystery buyer has been revealed, and he is the Ukraine’s richest man. Rinat Akhmetov, worth £10 billion, has bought the two apartments at the top of the new property, and he plans to make a three-story penthouse. Since the flats were unfurnished when sold, Akhmetov has already planned to shell out another £60 million ($98 million) on renovations and interior design.

Anna Terekhova, representative for Rinat Akhmetov, said that Akhmetov’s mining firm System Capital Management has made the investment in the property. He holds the 39th position on the Forbes 2011 list of the world’s richest people. The building was developed by brothers Nick and Christian Candy, who have already sold 45 of the property's 80 apartments, with each costing an average £22 million.

The apartment costs more than £6,000 per square foot and boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, a car park and access to spas and squash courts. The flat even features a panic room and bulletproof windows for those unwanted situations. There are SAS-trained security guards who make sure you are always safe inside.
