Revel with ‘revolutionary’ wine cellars

Pankaj Goswami / Sep 4 2009

High-end wine collectors must acknowledge the new wine storage system by Jim Cash, founder of the Revel Custom Wine Cellars. Left uninspired by traditional cork systems, Jim designed the Revel System for wine storage that makes wine and not the rack the focal point. Each unit in the Revel System contains sliding drawers that hold multiple bottles. This makes it distinct from the cork system’s stationary single-bottle cubicles, which make it impossible to identify wines without removing each bottle. All shelves higher than eye level can be stocked with labels facing downward, allowing them to be easily viewed from below. With Cash's systems, collectors can view 70 percent of their wines without disturbing any of the bottles. Cash’s system borrows its design format from kitchen cabinetry, which usually includes base units and upper units, but its usage for the first time in improvising a new wine storage system does make it revolutionary. All wine collectors and enthusiasts, get ready to skim your way to the choicest of wines instead of hollowing them out.
