When we talk of good musical

instruments, especially guitars, Gibson Guitars is one name that pops up in our

minds. Be it an ES-335 guitar or Madonna’s Gibson Les

Paul Custom guitar, Gibson has always given us ecstatic instruments for

years.

Gibson is yet again in the news,

and this time Gibson USA has introduced the limited-edition Sammy Hagar Explorer.

Patterned after an authentic Explorer of 1958, the guitar is styled with a creative

combination of Sammy's Red Rocker and Chickenfoot styling. The body of the

guitar is made of solid mahogany

wood and covered with elegant cream binding to give it an original Explorer look. Adorned

with a "secret ghost" image of the Chickenfoot logo, the Gibson has been given a hand-sprayed high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

Given

a traditional Explorer style, a quarter-sawn mahogany neck is glued for upper

fret access. The body of the guitar is elegantly carved in a slim frame

measuring .800" at the first fret and .850" at the 12th. The

fingerboard that is made from rosewood is also lined in cream. The six-in-line Explorer

headstock has a truss-rod cover with the Red Rocker "R."

To

provide the Guitar power at the top, Gibson USA has given the Sammy Hagar

Explorer a pair of elegant pickups. With ample articulation

and bite, Gibson has attached the zebra-coil '57 Classic in the neck position. The

pickup carries a smooth Alnico II magnet and is wound to the specs of a vintage

PAF pickup.

The

guitar is anchored by the traditional pairing of a Tune-o-Matic bridge and

stopbar tailpiece at the end and a set of Mini-Grovers at the other end. Every

guitar by Gibson comes with a hardshell case with owner’s manual and a limited

lifetime warranty.
