Sauter Carbon Offset brings Ark Angel, its latest eco-luxurious superyacht
British designer Richard Sauter of Sauter Carbon Offset Design has earlier given us the Supernova solar hybrid megayacht, the Ocean Empire LSV eco-luxurious superyacht and the Atlantic Sea Hawk, a high-performance Zero Carbon 18-meter cabin cruiser with a top speed of 50 knots. Taking clean yachting to the next level, the firm has now announced the Ark Angel LSV, a carbon neutral Emax megayacht that maximizes ecology, energy, efficiency and economy to achieve a 50 to 100 percent reduction in fuel consumption and GHG emissions.

Claimed to be faster and greener than yachts of her category, the 78m Ark Angel is equipped with the Daimler Bluetec Turbo Compound DD16, the only compound engines other than the Curtiss Wright Cyclone to ever go into production. The solar hybrid vessel reduces GHG emissions by 50 percent at 28 knots, up to 75% at 18 knots and up to 85 percent at 14 knots. Richard Sauter said…
I consider the Ark Angel the Champion of Green Power not because she can do 28 knots and cruise for 5,000 nautical miles Carbon Neutral, but because in leading the campaign to responsible yachting, she is challenging all comers.

The Ark Angel gets its power from four renewable sources - MDR, Solar Cells, Winds and Currents - which when combined with plug-in power sources, charge a Lithium-ion storage system that runs all of her services. When combined with power sailing SkySail, there is enough energy to offset up to 5,000 nautical miles of cruising every year.
