Numerous masterpieces are coming to Sotheby's this year. We have already talked about the Francis Bacon's Bullfight, a rare 710-year-old copy of the Magna Carta, and the Jeff Koon's hot-pink hanging heart. Now, up for sale at Sotheby's will be 'Tete de femme (Dora Maar)' and 'La Lampe,' two important works of Pablo Picasso. Both works from the family Picasso, which have never before been put up at auction, will be on view at Sotheby's London from Oct 7 to 12 and in New York from Nov 2 to 7 preceding their sale on the evening of Nov 7 in New York. The Tete de femme (Dora Maar) is a 31.5-inch (80-cm) bronze bust made in 1941 and is estimated to sell for between $20 million and $30 million. The La Lampe from 1931 features the similarity of his mistress, Marie-Therese Walter, and is being anticipated to fetch something between $25 million and $35 million. Marie-Therese Walter and Dora Maar are the two women who stimulated Picasso's art more than any others.
