Ulysse Nardin unveils the Monaco 2011 Executive Dual Time Limited Edition

Wrik Sen / Sep 22 2011

Ever since Ulysse Nardin began operations in 1846, it has dedicated its resources to create timepieces that many horological collectors regard as a pride of their collection. With precision in the movements and innovation with new materials, the Swiss watchmaker has produced timepieces focused on the ‘marine navigation’ theme primarily. This year, they sponsored the Monaco Yacht Show and for the occasion introduced the limited edition dual-time watch, which will have only 100 pieces of it available for sale.

One look at the watch and the distinct blue tone of the timepiece is easily distinguishable in the bezel, dial, and the strap. The unique color has been matched to shades found deep within the waters. The 43 mm wide casing is done in industrial grade stainless steel and contains similar materials on the rather bold dial. Large and rather prominent roman numerals indicate the hours in silver, with a large date box on the 2 ‘o’ clock slot, seconds dial at the 6 ‘o’clock slot and also a rather unique, permanent home time at the 9 ‘o’ clock slot. Moving around in perfect motion are the 3-dimensional crafted stainless steel hands. All of these artistic elements are on display through the anti-reflective sapphire crystal covering on the case, the back of which also exposes the UN-24 self winding movement mechanism. The power reserve is stated to be around 42 hours before it needs its next set of windings. The bracelet or rather strapping of the watch is done in the same blue shade alligator leather and stitched in a fixed pattern. To ensure that the timepiece doesn't give in, the water resistance is stated to be for a depth of 100 meters.
