Worcestershire couple build a £25,000 fully functional miniature chapel in backyard

A backyard church is just what one could ask for to get one’s daily doses of inspiration and encouragement to sail smoothly through the recession – if you are anything like this Worcestershire couple who built a £25,000 ($37,229) fully functional miniature chapel at their house in Mappleborough Green. It took around two and a half years for the couple to turn their dream into reality. Jon and Muriel Richards built the miniature chapel, around the size of a garden shed (about 8 feet by 12 feet) from pieces they collected from reclamation yards across the country, including the chapel's centerpiece, a bronze crucifixion figure about three and a half feet tall which belonged to a church in its previous life. Mr Richards said the reason behind building their own church has more to do with his wife’s involvement in the choir then divine intervention. The couple says, "If you look at the time we spent running up and down the country, going to reclamation yards for all the artifacts, the materials ... it is a lot of money but it wasn't intended.” An inflatable church is not a bad option either, in case you are looking for some divine intervention and donate the rest to charity!
