Yours for £400 million – The world's most expensive row of terraced houses
Estate agents describe Cornwall Terrace as a rare convergence of provenance, history and grandeur.
Cornwall Terrace, Regent's Park, London comprises eight double-fronted mansions, with each carrying an asking price of between £29 million and £60 million. Now, this most expensive row of terraced houses in the world has gone on the market for a whopping £400 million (US $624,478,642 at the time of writing). Architect Sir John Nash designed these lavish properties as part of the Prince Regent's (later King George IV) plans for the 19th century masterpiece Regent's Park. These luxury mansions have remained with the British nobility for 150 years before they became the headquarters for British Land. Developers Oakmayne bought the whole terrace two-and-a-half years ago and gave it a stunning makeover.
Each palatial home took 83,000 man-hours to create and interestingly, it took one whole year to hand-dig two meters beneath the original basement to create two extra floors. Each property has 8,000 to 14,000 square feet of space, five to seven bedrooms and interiors that combine London's architectural heritage with modern technology. All the eight mansions have a silent hydraulic elevator, multi-room iPad-controllable audiovisual and lighting systems, a big garage, spa and gym.
The first two properties have hit the market for £29 and £39 million, and the remaining six will be marketed next year.
