Gained fame from his discovery of a natural hormone used in the treatment of female infertility, Ernesto Bertarelli is a growing Swiss-Italian billionaire and is world’s 81st richest person. Ernesto became CEO of his father’s company Serono in 1996 and took the revenues of the company from $809 million in 1996 to $2.8 billion in 2006. In acknowledgment of his achievement, Bertarelli has been given the Légion d’Honneur by President Jacques Chirac of France. He has also launched an investment firm Ares Life Sciences 2008 and has invested $680 million in healthcare companies. Apart from interest in biotechnology Bertarelli also founded the yachting syndicate Team Alinghi in 2000 that won the Louis Vuitton Cup in 2003 .Ernesto got married to former 1988 Miss UK and song-writer Kirsty Roper and the couple has three children. His wife is currently ranked as the UK’s richest woman.Berarelli lives in Gstaad with his family and also likes to spend time in their house on the shores of Lake Geneva.

La BergerieErnesto owns a lavish house on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, his home country. This place is known for Yacht racing probably which is why he must have bought a house there.
Gstaad ChaletThis £8 million chalet complex is the primary residence of Ernesto and his celebrity wife Kirsty. The house is close to similar piles owned by Bernie Ecclestone. The complex includes houses for Ernesto and Kirsty and their three children. It also has outbuildings for staff, an underground garage and swimming pool, and vast grounds including a lake. They also keep a lot number of pets like horses, six llamas, two alpacas, goats, donkeys and turtles.
Knightsbridge MansionErnesto also owns a house in Knightsbridge which is a road which gives its name to an exclusive district lying to the west of central London.
The 155 foot feadship yacht was launched in 1996 and has since been the playground for rich and famous Ernesti and his wife Kirsty. The yacht holds special importance for both of them as they were first introduced to each other on the same yacht and it was love at first site for both of them.

Vava II yacht
Ernesto and his equally famous wife Kirsty Bertarelli are getting themselves a massive 96-metre yacht called Vava II that costs an incredible £100 million. At 96 meters, this is the 33rd largest yacht in the world and the largest private yacht ever built on the British soil. Featuring sumptuous interiors, the yacht took more than 200 craftsmen over two years to build at the Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth and was christened Vava II on September 10, 2011. Pharmaceuticals tycoon Mr Bertarelli is an avid sailor and has twice won the prestigious America’s Cup race. When delivered to him in Feb 2012, this yacht will replace his existing mega yacht Vava.
Features: The six-deck yacht has lavish guest cabins, a fold-down beach club and a pool which can be varied in depth to cater for guest preferences. It also comes with four boats to ferry passengers to shore and a helicopter landing pad. Much is not known about the yacht’s design except that the exteriors were designed by Hampshire-based specialists Redman Whiteley Dixon while the interiors were styled by Remi Tessier.
Twice winner of the prestigious America's Cup yacht race Ernesto also owns a yacht called Alinghi. The yacht was developed with the help of design team headed by Grant Simmer. The yacht was launched on July 8th 2009 and was under initial trialling on Lake Geneva. The key design features of Alinghi 5 is its light but stiff Y-shape central spine and has a complete carbon fiber body. The yacht also has optic-fibre sensors which provide real time monitoring of the boat.
