The 155 foot feadship yacht was launched in 1996 and has since been the playground for rich and famous Ernesti and his wife Kirsty. The yacht holds special importance for both of them as they were first introduced to each other on the same yacht and it was love at first site for both of them.
Vava II yacht
Ernesto and his equally famous wife Kirsty Bertarelli are getting themselves a massive 96-metre yacht called Vava II that costs an incredible £100 million. At 96 meters, this is the 33rd largest yacht in the world and the largest private yacht ever built on the British soil. Featuring sumptuous interiors, the yacht took more than 200 craftsmen over two years to build at the Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth and was christened Vava II on September 10, 2011. Pharmaceuticals tycoon Mr Bertarelli is an avid sailor and has twice won the prestigious America’s Cup race. When delivered to him in Feb 2012, this yacht will replace his existing mega yacht Vava.
Features: The six-deck yacht has lavish guest cabins, a fold-down beach club and a pool which can be varied in depth to cater for guest preferences. It also comes with four boats to ferry passengers to shore and a helicopter landing pad. Much is not known about the yacht’s design except that the exteriors were designed by Hampshire-based specialists Redman Whiteley Dixon while the interiors were styled by Remi Tessier.
Twice winner of the prestigious America's Cup yacht race Ernesto also owns a yacht called Alinghi. The yacht was developed with the help of design team headed by Grant Simmer. The yacht was launched on July 8th 2009 and was under initial trialling on Lake Geneva. The key design features of Alinghi 5 is its light but stiff Y-shape central spine and has a complete carbon fiber body. The yacht also has optic-fibre sensors which provide real time monitoring of the boat.
