Evergreen's billionaire founder pledged to give away all his wealth
At a time when the world’s wealthiest are becoming even more wealthier by the day, and the poorer becoming even more poor, the need for works of charity and donation have arisen more than ever before. In the past, we have featured billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg who wishes to donate a majority of his wealth to charity, as well Bill Gates who has been associated with causes like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation taking care of multiple social issues around the world. The latest billionaire to figure in the list of donors is the founder of the Evergreen Company, Chang Yung Fa, who is looking to donate his entire wealth for noble causes.

Back in 2011, Mr. Yung Fa was known to be worth NT$ 50 billion ($1.69 billion) as per Forbes evaluation. But the wealth hasn’t been a reason for him to not believe in the law of Karma. Mr. Fa was raised by a family that didn’t have the most luxurious lifestyle like most of known billionaires do. But with time, and his persevering personal efforts, he managed to accumulate his personal wealth and establish the Evergreen Empire, and now wishes to donate it all to charity. On being asked about this ideological thinking, he explains,
“I will give the total amount of my money to charitable causes. My children have shares in stock holdings to sustain themselves, and if they want more they have to earn it through hard work. My charitable endeavors are the fountain of my joy. It allows me to sleep better at night knowing that I have made a positive impact, and my career successes this life are the legacy of the good I sowed last life, so I need to humbly assume more responsibilities.”His decision to donate is indeed a welcome step in the territory of Taiwan, which has now made acquaintance with the problem of rich-poor disparity. Though a very affluent region known for its high standard of living, and also being a prime center for business and commerce for Asia, but economic disparity is now creeping in which has ensured that other billionaires like Mr. Yung Fa do more for charity. A thought much appreciated by us, we hope that his message spreads far and wide for all to follow.
